Delivery, setup, testing, an engineer on site for the event and pack down afterwards. Depending on the package that covers the PA system, wireless microphones, a digital mixing desk, screens or projection, stage and event lighting, and show playback. You are hiring a working system with someone running it, not a pile of equipment.

Three tiers. Meeting and small event AV for up to 80 guests is £950 + VAT per day. Event and conference AV for up to 250 guests is £1,950 + VAT per day. Large scale and multi day bespoke productions start at £4,500 + VAT and are quoted individually.

Soundcheck's standard model includes an engineer, because most problems at events are solved in the ten minutes before doors open rather than in the equipment itself. If you have your own competent technical team and want equipment only, ask Andrew and he will tell you honestly whether it makes sense for your event.

Soundcheck is based in Steyning, West Sussex, which is the base rate area and covers Horsham, Crawley, Brighton, Worthing, Chichester and Bognor Regis. East Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey are charged at £75 + VAT, central London at £125 + VAT, and the rest of the UK is quoted individually. International work has taken Soundcheck as far as Dubai.

Andrew sends a written quote, usually within the hour of your enquiry. A booking fee of £195 + VAT or 5% of the total booking value, whichever is greater, secures your date, and the balance is invoiced around the event. The date is not held until the booking fee is paid.

Tell Andrew as early as you can and the package is adjusted. Growing from 80 to 150 guests changes the sound system, so it is worth a phone call rather than hoping the original rig will stretch. Small additions close to the date are usually workable.

Yes, with two conditions worth settling early: a reliable power supply and weather cover for the equipment and the operating position. Andrew will tell you what generator or supply is needed, and where a marquee, gazebo or stage cover has to be part of the plan.

No. Conferences, awards nights, exhibitions and corporate events are the core of the business, but Soundcheck also covers parties, charity fundraisers, school and community events, live music and race nights. The same standard of equipment and the same engineer turn up either way.

Professional touring standard equipment rather than consumer gear: Midas digital mixing desks, quality PA systems with subwoofers, handheld, lapel and headset wireless microphones, high brightness projection up to 7,000 lumens, LED screens, DMX lighting and QLab for show playback. Everything is tested before it leaves the workshop.

Quotes usually arrive within the hour. Short notice is genuinely welcome: Soundcheck has built and delivered events with 24 hours' notice when another supplier let the client down. If the date is free and the equipment is available, Andrew will say yes and tell you exactly what is achievable in the time.

Yes. Soundcheck holds £5,000,000 of public liability insurance and professional indemnity cover, and all equipment is PAT tested. Most venues ask to see both before you arrive, and Andrew sends the certificates over on request.

Plans change, so the terms are set out plainly up front. Cancellation charges apply from the date you cancel, unless the event is rebooked to a new date within six months at the time of cancelling, in which case nothing further is payable. Otherwise: six months or more before the event, nothing is payable; three to six months, 50% of the booking value; one to three months, 75%; less than one month, 100%. The booking fee is non-refundable in all cases.
