Most people know Soundcheck for what shows up on the day. Fewer know that the same 30 years of live event experience is available long before it, as strategic event consultancy.
When people think of Soundcheck, they usually think of what shows up on the day: sound, screens, lighting, and a calm engineer making sure everything runs without a hitch. What fewer clients realise is that this expertise sits on top of more than 30 years in live events, and that same experience is available long before the day itself, as strategic event consultancy.
Successful events don't happen by accident. They need careful planning, practical thinking, and someone who can see the bigger picture before the first guest arrives. That's exactly where consultancy comes in, not replacing the AV and production work Soundcheck is known for, but wrapping around it, so clients get support with the whole event, not just the technical parts.

A career built from every angle
Andrew's route into event consultancy wasn't theoretical. It came from doing the job, in almost every role there is. He spent seven years as a Stage Manager with Cunard, aboard several ships including the legendary QE2, managing multiple entertainment venues and delivering world-class productions night after night. Since then, he's worked with many of the UK's leading audiovisual companies, supported the BBC's Centenary Schools Tour, toured nationally as Tour Manager and Sound Engineer for Britain's Got Talent winner Jon Courtenay, and worked as Company Stage Manager on UK theatre productions.
That range, performer, stage manager, tour manager, sound engineer, production consultant, means Andrew understands events from every angle: what organisers need to decide, what speakers and performers need to deliver, and what delegates actually notice on the day.
One project sums up what that experience looks like in practice: a major event in Dubai, with Andrew brought in just six weeks before delivery. The brief went well beyond technical production. He coordinated speakers, international travel, visas, delegate logistics, hospitality, supplier management, and overall event delivery. It's the kind of assignment that only works with someone who can hold the whole picture in their head, not just one part of it.
What event consultancy actually covers
In practice, this means support with:
- Event consultancy and planning
- Event production management
- Conference and corporate event support
- Exhibition planning and production
- Technical event consultancy
- Hybrid and livestreamed events
- Speaker and presenter support
- Supplier coordination and event logistics
It's the strategic layer that sits above the AV: the planning, the problem spotting, and the coordination that determines whether an event runs smoothly or turns into a series of last minute fires.
What Andrew's known for

What clients say
Rather than recommending unnecessary equipment or overcomplicating a project, the focus is on finding the right solution for each event, balancing production quality, logistics and budget. It's practical advice, built on decades of real-world experience rather than a sales pitch.
Is this a fit for your next event?
This kind of consultancy tends to work best for businesses planning conferences and corporate events, exhibition organisers, awards ceremonies, networking events, charities hosting fundraising events, and organisations delivering hybrid or livestreamed events. Essentially, anyone who wants experienced guidance from the very start, not just a supplier on the day.
Whether you're planning your first business event or delivering a large-scale conference, having that guidance early can make all the difference.
